There is nothing more fun than surfing a single fin log & taking pictures while doing so.
I rarely swim to take pictures of surf. I would rather have the best of both worlds. Being mobile to capture interesting angles as well as catch waves for fun when they come to me. After catching a wave I usually hang out on the inside for a few waves, to capture some moments, and then paddle out and do it all again. On top of that, the people i surf with are ultimate good vibes. sharing Stoke, laughter, and trying to hang ten. This is what surfing is all about!

The last wave of our session was a magical one. I love to open my camera back when rewinding film to create random light leaks. I love where it ended up on this frame.

First light can be magical yet tricky to shoot with slower speed film. These following images were shot on Kodak Gold 200. One thing about shooting first light is giving me an opportunity to slow the shutter in order to create motion blur. I really love how it gives the feel of gliding through the water.
As more light filtered through West Maui Mountains, I love the even lighting of the steel blue water. As the sun peaked over the mountains nothing beats clean Maui golden light.
Lindsey and Jade are sisters and are probably two of the funnest people you will ever surf with. Every wave they catch they are smiling ear to ear, laughing at each other, screaming with joy, making it so fun to capture moments of them surfing!
